This tool is provided as a service of the Book Group Network. It allows users to browse for and locate groups and clubs which match their interests.

Geography in Houston is a challenge. The population is spread out over such a vast distance that historically it has been difficult to come together as a community. It is simply impractical to regularly attend events on the other side of Houston from where you live. We cannot change the geography of Houston. But we can help members of the community to better coordinate their activites. To do this we have created this tool which:

Documents all known clubs and groups with open membership.
Provide links to their websites.
Indicated their “Activity Center Of Mass” on a map of Houston.
Correlate each clubs calendar of events in a central repository.

What is an “Activity Center Of Mass”? This is a point on the map which represents the logical center of activities for that group. Often it is the physical location of meetings, but that is not a requirement. The push pins icons on the generated maps are only meant to locate the approximate activity center of mass. Exact physical address should be obtained from current information directly from the club.

Our Calendar is a composite entity that is generated from scheduling rules provided by each club. For example: if a club meets on the third Tuesday of the month, we can incorporate that into our matrix. We only attempt to integrate regularly scheduled long term meeting plans. Last minute changes, special events, and cancellations are not tracked. Please get up to date information from your club before traveling to a meeting.
